On the morning of October 28, 2026, the Trade Union of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT), in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union's Center for Worker Consultation and Support, organized a program entitled “Labor Law Awareness and Education for Final-Year Students.” The program aimed to equip students with essential legal knowledge, raise awareness of employees’ rights and obligations, and help them prepare for graduation and their transition into the workforce.

As the labor market places increasingly high demands on professional competence, workplace skills, and adaptability, a sound understanding of labor law has become an essential foundation for students preparing to enter the professional world.

Beyond the academic knowledge acquired during their studies, students need to develop a clear understanding of their rights, obligations, and responsibilities in employment relationships. Such awareness not only enables them to protect their legitimate rights and interests but also helps foster professionalism, respect for the law, and a strong sense of responsibility in the workplace.

With this objective in mind, the program provided students with an opportunity to gain practical legal knowledge, learn from experienced professionals, and engage directly with experts in labor law.

During the program, legal expert Nguyen Phan Bao Khuyen and the other speakers discussed legal issues that students may encounter when beginning their careers.

The presentations focused on matters particularly relevant to young employees, including the conclusion and implementation of employment contracts; the rights and obligations of employees and employers; wages, working hours, and rest periods; insurance policies; and important considerations throughout the employment process.

Legal expert Nguyen Phan Bao Khuyen shares essential labor law knowledge, helping students better understand their rights and responsibilities in employment relationships.

Particular emphasis was placed on understanding key provisions in employment contracts, becoming familiar with employment-related policies and benefits, and identifying appropriate ways to protect legitimate rights and interests. These are essential considerations for students transitioning from university life to professional employment.

Through the information and insights shared, students gained a stronger foundation for independently exploring legal matters, developing a greater sense of responsibility, and preparing themselves for the expectations of the labor market.

Beyond introducing legal regulations, the program emphasized the practical application of legal knowledge to real-life workplace situations.

Through expert presentations and consultations, students had the opportunity to gain a clearer understanding of issues that may arise during job searches, employment contract negotiations, workplace responsibilities, and the resolution of matters concerning employees’ rights and interests.

For final-year students, these issues are particularly relevant, as the transition from university to employment often brings uncertainties regarding career choices, recruitment conditions, compensation and benefits, and legal responsibilities.

Developing legal awareness while still at university can help students minimize potential risks, strengthen their ability to protect their rights, and respond appropriately to workplace situations.

Interactive discussions between students and speakers help clarify common legal issues encountered during job searches and employment.

The program also reinforced an important message: career readiness extends beyond specialized knowledge, foreign language proficiency, and soft skills. It also requires legal awareness, professional ethics, and a strong sense of civic responsibility.

The “Labor Law Awareness and Education for Final-Year Students” program was a meaningful initiative reflecting the HUIT Trade Union's commitment to supporting students through legal education, awareness-raising activities, and practical guidance.

Through its collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union's Center for Worker Consultation and Support, HUIT continues to strengthen partnerships with professional organizations, bringing practical knowledge and real-world insights closer to students.

The initiative not only helped students build a stronger legal foundation before graduation but also encouraged proactive learning, respect for the law, and a responsible approach to fostering harmonious and stable employment relationships.

Committed to practice-oriented education, HUIT continues to prioritize initiatives that support students’ comprehensive development. These efforts provide a solid foundation for graduates to adapt confidently to professional environments, safeguard their legitimate rights and interests, and progressively establish their capabilities in the labor market.
